Helicopter Training at Rand Airport

Helicopter pilot trainingHelicopter Training at Rand Airport

In addition to NAC’s pilot training in Port Alfred at 43 Air School, the Rand Airport helicopter training operation is populated by student pilots as well as by pilots seeking advanced training. The Rand Airport training facility is mostly utilised by owner pilots from ab-initio training on the Robinson types to more advanced training on Bell types. Find out more about helicopter training, accommodation and tuition fees with NAC at Rand Airport.

Environment

NAC Training provides a complete and dedicated training environment. The altitude of the airport is 5500 ft AMSL and creates the perfect scenario to learn to fly at high altitudes.  In the summer, the average midday temperature is around 30C and in the winter around 15C.

Rand Airport offers all the facilities to make it the perfect training environment. You will first master the basic skills in the general flying areas which are in close proximity to the airport.

Equipment & Facilities

Equipment and Facilities

NAC Training specialises in flying training, for which our organisation is specifically equipped. The infrastructure includes an administration centre/operations room and lecture hall. The helicopters are maintained by NAC’s own on-site aircraft maintenance organisation with engine overhaul capability, which is useful in teaching you a practical understanding of the more technical aspects of your course. Feel free to contact NAC’s flight school for more information.

Expertise

Private - as well as commercial - flying requires a lot more than controlling an aircraft correctly and accurately; it includes an effective and adaptable procedural capability, an applied operational knowledge and good and confident command skills. All these are taught and then practiced through planned exposure to various conditions and situations.

NAC Training has identified specific objectives for all these aspects and designed step-by-step, logically structured programmes in order to achieve them. Theory and practical training are integrated throughout the programme, and every dual and solo hour is used strategically for maximum productivity. There is no unstructured “hour building”. Management programmes monitor not only your progress, but also our performance, thereby identifying problems and highlighting corrective action.

Experience
The school has extensive experience in training a wide spectrum of pilots. Some graduates have gone on to Pilot Training Experience.jpgbecome captains and first officers with a wide variety of operators across Africa, as well as different helicopter charter operators in southern Africa.

We also cater for other ratings such as Instrument Rating, Instructors Rating, and Conversion Training on most types. Game catch / cull ratings, external load rating and all types of advanced training including mountain flying. Courses can be structured in such a way as to suit your requirements.
