NAC's Helicopter Maintenance division is a Bell Gold approved Customer Service Centre, Robinson Helicopter Service Centre and a Rolls Royce Model 250 overhaul facility. Based at Rand Airport, NAC Helicopter Maintenance is capable of all servicing and repairs to Bell and Robinson aircraft.
NAC's superbly equipped Helicopter Maintenance division holds South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) certification as well as helicopter maintenance certifications from several other African countries, including Kenya and Tanzania. Presently, this division manages approximately 140 helicopters of all types at its service facility. The Helicopter Maintenance division is also able to extend its services elsewhere on the African continent.
Technical Staffing
NAC has launched a skills training programme that involves a full-time training instructor. This skills training is recognised as a SACAA and TETA training facility alongside South African Airways and Denel. Several of the trainees will eventually be placed in the aviation industry or will be offered permanent positions with NAC Helicopter Maintenance division as qualified technical aircraft maintenance personnel. Recruits will be trained to work on USA products to FAA standards overseen by Bell Helicopters.
USA companies take a serious view of corporate governance, meaning the company representing recruits in South Africa has to comply with company ethics. Certain trainees will be offered permanent positions with the NAC Helicopter Maintenance division to boost trained staff requirements for the servicing of the considerable order book that the division has already written. Engine Overhaul Facility
This is the only Rolls Royce Authorised Maintenance Centre (AMC) in the Sub-Saharan region which includes a Rolls Royce certified engine test cell. Engine overhaul and repair includes those of the Bell Jet Ranger, Long Ranger, 407, BO 105, MD 500 and Bell 430, and B17 Series engines. Rolls Royce warranty work is also carried out at this facility.
Our Engine Overhaul Facility is also CAA certified to overhaul the Lycoming Piston Engines, and NAC is also a Bell Helicopter Textron customer support facility (CSF) offering maintenance and support for the following aircraft models:
