NAC’s helicopter maintenance facility at Rand Airport undertakes complete factory authorised maintenance and overhaul services for Bell and Robinson helicopters positioning NAC to provide a full range of world class overhaul, repair and maintenance services.
National Airways Corporation (NAC) Rand airport facility is the only Bell Customer Service Facility (CSF) in Sub Saharan Africa and the only Rolls Royce Model 250 engine Authorised Maintenance Centre in Africa.

The Helicopter Operations division is based at the newly developed state-of-the-art “Ultimate Heliport” in Midrand, Johannesburg. This facility, designed from the ground up with helicopters in mind, boasts being the only heliport of international caliber in South Africa.

When every second counts, aero-medical emergency services can mean the difference between life and death for the patient. We operate several helicopters equipped with state-of-the-art EMS equipment. These helicopters, situation dependant, can be hired for use and put on standby for sporting events and/or patient transport, etc.
Our programme offers a unique combination of theoretical and practical training in both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, ensuring our students are job-ready and highly skilled.
Our first-year Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic training programme runs for approximately 35 weeks and includes:
Graduates who successfully complete the first year may be selected for On-the-Job Training at NAC facilities (subject to availability). After completing a TETA logbook and meeting required experience hours, students may apply to write their Trade Test and qualify as certified Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics.

An Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft to ensure they meet safety and performance standards. This includes working on both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
Training is conducted at the NAC Technical Training Academy, located at Rand Airport in Germiston, South Africa.

The first year of training runs for approximately 35 weeks, covering both theoretical and practical training. This is followed by 18–24 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT), if selected.

Yes. Only a limited number of students are accepted. Applicants must complete a screening test and interview to be considered.
Yes, Year 1 training must be funded by the student, sponsor, or company. Financial assistance or sponsorship is not guaranteed and must be arranged independently.
While NAC may offer On-the-Job Training placements to successful students, employment is not guaranteed. Placement depends on availability and performance. Students may also seek OJT with other approved aviation companies.
